Mariano Berges joined the company as COO in February. With over 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, he has contributed to global projects totaling more than 20 GW across solar, wind, and battery storage. An Industrial Engineer with a Master’s in Renewable Energy and an AMP from IESE, he has held senior roles at companies such as INDRA, SOCOIN, FRV, and RPC. He is also a cofounder of several companies and has led innovative projects, including a 20 MW solar plant and the first Tesla battery project in the UK. Since joining, he has focused on strengthening operations and driving efficiency and sustainable growth.

Bernerd Da Santos is Executive Vice President and President of U.S. & Renewables at AES, where he leads the company’s growth in clean energy and green hydrogen. He previously served as COO (2015–2023), playing a key role in transforming operations, scaling renewables, and driving digitalization and innovation across the business. With more than 20 years at AES, he has held multiple senior roles in operations and finance, contributing to global expansion and energy transition efforts. Originally from Venezuela, he holds degrees in business and an MBA, and has extensive international experience across the energy sector.

José Antonio Miranda Soto has served as CEO of Avangrid since June 2025, a leading U.S. energy company and part of the Iberdrola Group operating across more than 20 states. With over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, he has held several key leadership roles within the company since joining in 2021, driving growth in generation capacity and advancing major projects such as Vineyard Wind 1. Prior to Avangrid, he held senior executive positions at Siemens Gamesa and ABB, and has been actively involved in industry organizations.

Omar has over 25 years of experience in the energy sector, spent with General Electric, SunEdison, Samsung and Energy Vault, spanning various segments of power generation including conventional, renewable, and energy storage and diverse business types, having led busineses and teams at OEMs, and IPP and turnkey solution provider. Omar holds an MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.

Carla is an executive search and talent management leader with over 20 years of international experience advising clients across industries and geographies. With a strong multicultural background, she has built her career across Europe, Latin America, and the United States. She began her career at the United Nations Information Center in Washington, D.C., before joining Seeliger y Conde Amrop in Barcelona in 1998. In 2001, she moved to London to work with The Drax Group, a UK executive search firm specializing in financial markets. Carla later rejoined SYC Amrop in Madrid as a Consultant, advancing to Associate Partner and subsequently Equity Partner. In 2013, she relocated to Houston, Texas, to establish the firm’s local office, and in 2017 she founded Lincoln Leadership Advisors. Carla holds a joint BA in Diplomatic Studies from Georgetown University and International Affairs from George Washington University, as well as a degree in French Civilization and Literature from the Sorbonne University in Paris. She is fluent in Spanish, English, and French. She also serves as a Board Member of EADA Business School and Vice President of the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

He believes that super-hot geothermal can provide the energy that will be needed to power the world’s rapidly growing economy through the end of this century and beyond.

Previously, Reed served as Chief Operating Officer of Texas under Governor Greg Abbott, working closely with state leadership on strategic policy initiatives. Following his government service, he founded Crestline Group, a successful government affairs consulting firm representing clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies to start-ups across multiple industries. He is also a founding partner of Clay Scott LLP, a Texas law firm focused on administrative and regulatory law.

Nuno Escaja Gonçalves

Nuno Escaja Gonçalves serves as Scale's Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Scale, Nuno most recently served as the CFO of EDP Renewables North America (“EDPR NA”)'s Distributed Generation division and sat on the Management Committee. There, he helped define the growth strategy of the company, oversaw the Finance department, actively participated in the analysis and approval of new investments, and provided support to the Capital Markets department. He also served as Interim CEO of EDPR NA DG for a period of four months and led the process of integrating the new division within the company after its acquisition from C2 Omega. Previously, Nuno had worked for nearly a decade as the Director of Financial Planning & Control for EDPR NA, where he prepared budgets and monthly reporting, controlled the financial execution of new utility-scale wind and solar projects, and provided financial estimates for the development, technical, and investment analysis teams. He also took on added responsibilities as the Director of Portfolio Management, managing relationships with EDPR NA tax equity and cash equity investors as well as project finance counterparties. Nuno’s career in energy began with the EDP Group in Portugal over two decades ago, as the Deputy Head of Finance responsible for the treasury of the Group and for the pension fund. He also worked in the capital markets team having participated in the issuance of over $10 billion in bonds, loans, and credit facilities.

Bobby Tudor is the founder and CEO of Artemis Energy Partners, an Investing and Advisory platform focused on companies involved in the Global Energy Markets. Mr. Tudor is also a Retired Founder and CEO of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. TPH is a leading Energy Investment Bank formed in 2007 with over 100 employees in five offices in the US, and Canada. It is widely recognized for its industry leading position in Energy securities research and Energy investment banking advisory transactions. TPH merged with Perella Weinberg Partners in 2016. Prior to forming TPH, Mr. Tudor was a Partner at Goldman Sachs and a leader of its worldwide Energy practice. Over his 35-plus year career in Investment Banking, he has worked on many of the defining transactions of the period, across most energy subsectors and geographies. Mr. Tudor is currently the Chairman of the Houston Energy Transition Initiative, a consortium of Houston’s leading energy companies working to shape the region’s Energy Transition Strategy, and is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Greentown Labs, North America’s leading energy technology accelerator. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Murphy Oil Corporation; Puloli, Inc., an early-stage methane detection and measurement company, and Tankbots, Inc., an AI-driven industrial robotics platform. Mr. Tudor is the Past Chair of both the Greater Houston Partnership and the Rice University Board of Trustees. He serves on the Board of Advisors for Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, the National Petroleum Council, the Jones School of Business at Rice, and the National Advisory Board for the Tulane Center for Energy Law.
