The Seville bullring welcomed more than 650 guests, from the regional and provincial administrations as well as business organisations, workers, clients and suppliers.
With the attendance of more than 650 people , the Real Maestranza de Caballería bullring hosted the 50th Anniversary Gala of the founding of the Goya Spain factory in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville) on the evening of June 25 .
After the initial reception, the gala, presented by journalists Toñi Moreno and Manu Sánchez, featured some very emotional moments. The first of these was the screening of a tribute video in which the workers who have been part of the “Goya España family” over the last five decades told its founder, Antonio Unanue , about the evolution of the factory since its installation in Alcalá de Guadaíra in 1974.
Next, the General Manager of Goya Spain, Antonio Carrasco, spoke. After warmly welcoming the attendees, he reviewed the history of the company, highlighting its main values, “the quality and tradition that, together with the effort and dedication of all of us who are part of this great family, have allowed us to celebrate 50 years of history.”
Following her speech, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Consolación Vera , highlighted the value of Goya Spain in the business fabric of the province as one of the main exporting engines of olive oils and table olives.
The closing remarks were made by the Vice President of Goya Foods, Joseph Pérez , and the CEO of the company, Robert Unanue , CEO of the company, son of the founder and third generation of Unanue, who, after an emotional remembrance of his father , insisted on the family nature of the company and its constant attention to the community whenever it needs it.
With a marked Andalusian accent, the Goya Spain 50th Anniversary Gala paid tribute to the company’s roots, with flamenco and Andalusian horses as the main protagonists, and a masterful performance by the Argentine singer, uniting Spain and the Caribbean, Goya Spain and Goya Foods with her voice. Because if it’s Goya… it has to be good!
About Goya Spain
Goya Spain celebrates its 50th anniversary by exporting the essence of Andalusian olive groves to 28 markets on five continents. The history of Goya dates back to 1936, when the founder of the brand, Mr. Prudencio Unanue , began to import olive oils and olives from Spain for distribution to the Spanish community in New York . Years later, in 1974, the brand returned to Spain, to its origins, led by his son, Mr. Antonio Unanue.
Goya España was formally established in May 1974, with the establishment of a factory for processing and packaging olive oils, capers, vinegars and gazpacho in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville). This location brought the Goya brand to the heart of Andalusia , the world’s largest production centre for olives and olive oil, facilitating quality control of packaging from the field to the table.
Today, Goya Spain has more than 400 international awards . Its sales in 2023 exceeded 20 million bottles of oil and 20 million jars of table olives. With a turnover of 37 million euros , the company exports 98% of its total sales.
