- Coastal Bend LNG (www.coastalbendlng.com) has selected Técnicas Reunidas for a natural gas liquefaction and export facility plant along the Texas Gulf Coast.
- Técnicas Reunidas (www.tecnicasreunidas.es) will work on the front-end engineering design (FEED) services of the facility for multiple large-scale trains.
- Coastal Bend LNG announced last year that ConocoPhillips’ Optimised Cascade® (OCP) process will be used in the development of the project, as it meets its objective of producing cost-competitive liquefied natural gas (LNG) while mitigating greenhouse gas emissions (see Coastal Bend LNG press release).
- The project entrusted to Técnicas Reunidas is fully in line with three of the main pillars of its current SALTA strategic plan, which high level of compliance was announced by the Spanish company at its recent Investor Day: the promotion of service contracts, the strengthening of its presence in the United States, and the development of decarbonization activities.
Madrid, January 12th, 2026.- Coastal Bend LNG today announced it has selected Técnicas Reunidas for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of its planned natural gas liquefaction and export facility along the Texas Gulf Coast.
Técnicas Reunidas will work on the FEED for multiple large-scale trains. Coastal Bend LNG announced last year that ConocoPhillips’ Optimised Cascade® (OCP) process will be used in the development of the project, as it meets its objective of producing cost-competitive liquefied natural gas (LNG) while mitigating greenhouse gas emissions (see Coastal Bend LNG press release).
Técnicas Reunidas has developed in the past a FEED for a natural gas liquefaction plant for Venture Global in Louisiana and an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) of a liquefaction plant in Damietta, Egypt, for SEGAS-Union Fenosa.
The project that Técnicas Reunidas will execute for Coastal Bend LNG aligns with three of the main pillars of its current SALTA strategic plan, for which the Spanish company reported a high level of compliance at its recent Investor Day: the promotion of service contracts, the strengthening of its presence in the US market and the development of decarbonization activities.
The company has reinforced its presence in the US market by establishing a business unit focused exclusively on North America and opening a permanent office in Houston.
Currently, Técnicas Reunidas’ portfolio of potential projects in North America amounts to €28 billion over the next two years, representing one-third of the total value of its global portfolio.
“Técnicas Reunidas brings impressive expertise in engineering and design across many process technologies, including LNG and industrial decarbonization, and share our mission to provide low-carbon energy to the world,” said Nick Flores, CEO of Coastal Bend LNG. He added, “Our collaboration with Técnicas Reunidas and ConocoPhillips, and their combined experience in this space, will enable us to maximize our facility’s efficiency and economic targets, while minimizing our carbon intensity.”
“Coastal Bend LNG exemplifies how we, along with our customers and technology providers, can develop lower carbon LNG by applying decarbonization innovations to meet the evolving expectations of LNG end-markets,” said Arthur Crossley, Deputy CEO and CCO, Técnicas Reunidas.
