Ambassador Hector Gomez Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations

Ambassador Hector Gomez

Ambassador Hector Gomez was appointed Spain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in December 2023. Prior to this, he was re-elected as a Member of the Spanish Parliament for Santa Cruz de Tenerife and served as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Tourism. From 2021 to early 2023, he was the Spokesman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Congress of Deputies and later became the President of the Constitutional Commission. Gomez held the position of Spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Commission and Head of the Spanish delegation to the Conference on the Future of Europe and acted as a Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 2019 to 2021. Earlier in his career, he served as Director General of Turespaña from 2018 to 2019, promoting Spain as a tourism destination. He holds degrees in Labour Sciences, Law, and Tourism Management.

Ambassador Maurizio Massari

Ambassador Maurizio Massari is Italy's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, with over 40 years of diplomatic experience. He is Vice President of the 79th UN General Assembly and, since December 2023, a member of the Advisory Group of the Central Emergency Response Fund. He previously served as Vice President of the UN Economic and Social Council and as Vice President of the Board of Directors of UN Women in 2023. Since 2021, he has been recognized as an "International Gender Champion." From 2016 to 2021, he was Italy's Permanent Representative to the European Union and served as Special Envoy of the Italian Foreign Minister for the Mediterranean and the Middle East from 2012 to 2013.

Ambassador Evangelos C. Sekeris

Ambassador Evangelos C. Sekeris is Greece’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, a position he assumed in 2023. Prior to this, he served as Greece’s Deputy Permanent Representative to NATO from 2019 to 2022. His career includes roles as Director of the A5 Directorate for the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Caucasus, Black Sea and Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens; Consul-General in Istanbul; and Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Minister for Foreign Affairs. He also held positions as Political Counsellor at Greece’s Permanent Representation to the EU and Consul in Izmir. Sekeris holds a degree in Political Sciences and International Relations from the National University of Athens.
