CALCASIEU PARISH, LOUISIANA,\u00a0APRIL\u00a029, 2026<\/em>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Construction is officially underway on the\u00a0I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Replacement Project.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD), together with project partners\u00a0ACCIONA, Sacyr and Plenary\u00a0marked\u00a0the start of construction\u00a0with a formal groundbreaking that will\u00a0replace the existing 1950s-era Calcasieu River Bridge with a modern crossing designed to improve safety, mobility, and freight reliability along one of the most important interstate corridors in the Gulf South.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The I-10 across the Calcasieu River serves\u00a0as a critical link for commuters, regional industry, and national supply chains moving through Southwest Louisiana.\u00a0Designed to meet current and future transportation demands,\u00a0the new bridge will feature\u00a0three\u00a0lanes, plus auxiliary\u00a0lane, full shoulders, a reduced grade, and all-electronic free-flow tolling to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.\u00a0The project also includes roadway and interchange improvements that will strengthen connectivity and create new opportunities for commercial development in Lake Charles and Westlake.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

LA DOTD estimates the project\u00a0will support more than 16,000 jobs over its lifecycle\u00a0and\u00a0generate more than\u00a0US$1 billion\u00a0(\u20ac855 million)\u00a0in economic impact through construction activity, local procurement, and long-term regional growth.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project is being delivered as a long-term public-private partnership (P3) concession, under which\u00a0the\u00a0consortium will design, build, finance,\u00a0operate\u00a0and maintain the\u00a0asset\u00a0over a 50-year period. The concession\u00a0represents\u00a0a total investment of US$3.37 billion (\u20ac3.10 billion).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As one of the largest infrastructure investments in Louisiana history, the\u00a0I-10\u00a0Calcasieu River Bridge Replacement Project is\u00a0also\u00a0expected to improve freight efficiency and support the continued economic growth of Southwest Louisiana for decades to come.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

KEY\u00a0PROJECTS\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

ACCIONA continues to expand its presence in the United States, delivering major infrastructure projects nationwide.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aside from the\u00a0I-10\u00a0project,\u00a0the company is leading the design, construction, financing and\u00a055-year operation of a major new express\u00a0lanes\u00a0corridor in Atlanta, the SR400\u00a0Express Lanes project.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In North Dakota, as part of the Red River Valley Alliance, ACCIONA is delivering the Fargo-Moorhead River Flood Diversion Channel project, a P3 flood protection initiative working alongside the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to protect more than 235,000 residents from severe flooding.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the water sector, the company recently completed the renovation of the Tampa Bay desalination plant and will design,\u00a0build\u00a0and\u00a0operate\u00a0and maintain the Doheny Ocean Desalination Plant in California, strengthening long-term water supply resilience.\u00a0It also has three major water treatment projects in Puerto Rico,\u00a0which will\u00a0benefit\u00a0a\u00a0combined\u00a0325,000 residents.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In renewable energy, ACCIONA Energ\u00eda operates a total installed capacity of 3GW in the USA, including 1.4GW of wind, 1.3GW\u00a0of solar, a 64MW solar thermal plant and one of the largest utility-scale battery energy storage systems in Texas.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
