In 2025, both REGULAR ANIMAL and Sanitas USA celebrate their 10th anniversary. One is a creative agency, the other a healthcare company\u2014but their journeys share a common thread: building with purpose, bridging cultures, and growing with people at the center. In this conversation, Ana Meira, founder of REGULAR ANIMAL, sits down with Sergio Mart\u00ednez, CEO of Sanitas USA, to reflect on what the last decade has taught them, what it means to lead a purpose-driven organization in the U.S., and how they envision the future from where they stand today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Can you believe it\u2019s been ten years already? I still remember the early days of REGULAR ANIMAL\u2014running on the kind of boldness you only have when you have no idea what\u2019s ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> Ha! I can totally picture that. When I stepped into Sanitas USA, it still felt like a startup in many ways. We had big ambitions, but we were figuring things out\u2014like how to translate the spirit of Sanitas into this new market.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> That must\u2019ve been a challenge. New country, new audience, same mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> Exactly. And an entirely different healthcare system, which is no small thing. But also a big opportunity\u2014to build something meaningful from scratch and do it with the kind of care and empathy that define Sanitas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> I feel like we were both trying to build bridges\u2014between cultures, ways of thinking, and people. That\u2019s something I\u2019ve always admired about what you do: it\u2019s not just about services, it\u2019s about connection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> It is. And you\u2019ve done that in your own way too. REGULAR ANIMAL has this talent for capturing ideas that feel human and bold at the same time. I think that\u2019s why people trust your work\u2014it\u2019s honest, but never boring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> That\u2019s the nicest compliment, thank you. I guess we\u2019ve both spent the last ten years learning how to grow while keeping that original spark.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> You know, looking back, I think the one thing that kept us grounded through all the change was purpose. That north star of <\/span>we\u2019re here to take care of people<\/span><\/i>\u2014not just treat them, but really care.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Yes. That resonates so much. For us, it was always about doing meaningful work with brands that want to make things better. Not in a cheesy way\u2014just… better. More human. More thoughtful.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> That\u2019s what I love about what you\u2019ve built. REGULAR ANIMAL doesn\u2019t just sell ideas\u2014it shapes culture. And it does it with this mix of sharp thinking and heart.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Gracias. I think purpose is what gives work depth. When we started, we didn\u2019t always have the resources or the structure, but we had a very clear \u201cwhy.\u201d And that \u201cwhy\u201d has been our compass every time we\u2019ve faced a tough call. At REGULAR ANIMAL, we sum it up in our tagline: <\/span>Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions<\/span><\/i>\u2122<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/i> It\u2019s more than a motto\u2014it\u2019s how we show up in everything we do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> Totally. And it\u2019s easy to say \u201cpurpose\u201d now because it\u2019s trendy\u2014but living it, especially when things get hard, that\u2019s the real test.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Right? Purpose isn\u2019t your logo. It\u2019s what you do when no one\u2019s clapping.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> Stealing that line, by the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> It\u2019s true! That\u2019s what makes this anniversary feel meaningful. Not just that we\u2019re still standing\u2014but that we still <\/span>believe<\/span><\/i> in what we\u2019re doing.<\/span><\/p>\n

By now, some people might be wondering what a creative agency and a healthcare company could possibly have in common… and honestly, I think the answer is empathy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> A hundred percent. Whether you’re designing a brand or a care model, you have to get people\u2014what they need, what they\u2019re scared of, what makes them feel seen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Exactly. You can\u2019t create anything meaningful if you don\u2019t know who you\u2019re talking to\u2014or why it matters to them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> For us, empathy shows up in the little things. How a receptionist greets someone. How easy it is to book an appointment. The words we use when someone\u2019s anxious or unsure. That\u2019s where trust is built.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> And for us, it\u2019s in the creative strategy. Choosing the right word over the flashy one. Knowing when less is more. People can feel when something\u2019s been crafted with care.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> I love that. And I think creativity, in both our worlds, is also about solving problems. It\u2019s not just making something pretty\u2014it\u2019s figuring out how to make it <\/span>work<\/span><\/i> better, <\/span>feel<\/span><\/i> better.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Absolutely. Creativity is a tool for connection. And connection is what makes people stay\u2014whether it\u2019s a patient, a client, or someone scrolling through your site.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> In the end, it\u2019s all human. That\u2019s the through-line. We\u2019re both in the business of making people feel understood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Another thing I think we share\u2014beyond empathy and purpose\u2014is building from our cultural roots. Being part of the Hispanic community in the U.S. isn\u2019t just a detail, it\u2019s part of the DNA.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> Totally. It\u2019s not just about language\u2014it\u2019s about understanding the mindset, the values, the family dynamics. That\u2019s shaped everything we do at Sanitas. We wanted people to feel <\/span>at home<\/span><\/i> the moment they walked in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> I feel that. For me, it\u2019s about navigating that in-between space\u2014where you\u2019re not fully \u201chere\u201d or \u201cthere.\u201d REGULAR ANIMAL was born in Miami, but with very clear European roots. That mix has been our superpower.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> It gives you perspective. You can see things from multiple angles. And you\u2019re not afraid to challenge the status quo because you\u2019ve already had to reinvent yourself just to be here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Exactly. There\u2019s a kind of resilience that comes from building something in a new context. You learn to listen differently. To adapt without losing your essence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> And I think that shows in how we lead, too. I try to bring that cultural awareness into how we build teams, how we communicate. It\u2019s not just about being \u201cdiverse\u201d\u2014it\u2019s about being culturally intelligent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Love that. And it\u2019s also about giving people permission to bring their full selves to the table. That\u2019s when the real magic happens.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> If you had told me ten years ago that we\u2019d be here, having this conversation, I probably would\u2019ve laughed. Not because I didn\u2019t believe in it\u2014but because the path never looks like what you imagine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Right? It\u2019s messy, unpredictable, and somehow exactly what it needed to be. I think the biggest lesson for me has been: keep going, even when it doesn\u2019t look like what you expected.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> Yes. And also\u2014don\u2019t do it alone. Surround yourself with people who challenge you, support you, and help you stay grounded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> That\u2019s been huge for me too. And creatively, I think the challenge ahead is to stay curious. To not let success turn into routine. The world\u2019s changing fast, and so should we.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> Same in healthcare. The needs are evolving\u2014more digital, more personalized, more community-driven. If we want to stay relevant, we have to keep listening, keep adapting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> You know, when I think about everything we\u2019ve lived through\u2014pandemics, pivots, unexpected wins\u2014I realize success isn\u2019t just about <\/span>making it<\/span><\/i> to ten years. It\u2019s about <\/span>how<\/span><\/i> you make it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Yes. It\u2019s about showing up when it\u2019s hard, listening when it\u2019s quiet, and celebrating not just the milestones\u2014but all the messy, beautiful moments in between.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> What we\u2019ve built\u2014one in health, the other in ideas\u2014are stories of purpose, courage, and community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ana:<\/b> Different paths, same north star: to make things better, and to do it with heart.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio:<\/b> So here\u2019s to the next chapter\u2014bolder, wiser, and still full of belief.<\/span><\/p>\n
